What does POSHO mean in Scrabble?
noun
regional
Maize flour, and the firm cooked block made from it, from the Swahili word for a daily ration.
Posho is cooked by stirring maize flour into boiling water until it sets into a firm block, and it is eaten across Kenya, Uganda and neighbouring countries much as ugali or sadza are eaten further south. The word comes from Swahili and was also used historically for the maize rations issued to labourers and soldiers. It remains everyday food today, not only a term from that older use.
